jawa,soda blasting and 23mm sockets

Sorry about the lag between posts
First a little house keeping
Steve here are the photos of the Air Box on the Jawa

I put my blast cabinet together finnaly, light does not work and it leaks abrasive out of every seam, the old saying is right you get what you pay for...

I will be sealing all the seams with bathroom caulk to stop the leaks
I decided to go the route of soda blasting, not as aggressive as sand or slag but when I am done all I have to do is submerge the part in water and the soda will dissolve.
Stripped all the goop off of one of the side covers nicely, I can see that I will be limited by the size of my compressor.
I decided to get my hands dirty so I broke open the clymers and got to the step of taking the clutch basket apart bent the tabs back on the washer to find the nut is a 23mm. guess what I don't have in my set, yup I have a 22mm and a 24mm and no way was I going to go to Sears to fight the mad house for the socket.
I don't have the retaining tool can I put a rag in the gears to stop the rotation or is there a better method.
Is that tool still available?
took the rotary cover off on the oil pump side and noticed some scoring not deep but visible any thoughts?

BS MII / SS #23002288

Spent the day traveling to Pete's in Wmass to drop off my 250 monza to run on the dyno after doing the valves and ignition.
Yea, I know, I could have done it but the old girl has been acting pesky with the new fuel here in New England. Nothing a few runs on the dyno can't cure. Why settle for good when you can have great. BTW not only does he race prep bikes but I hear he is handy with rusty pick-ups and mini vans
Saw Doug and did some horse trading and i now have some goodies to complete my stone.
now I need to get some time, anybody want a set of seven year old twin boys , just kidding.
here are a few before photos of BS MII / SS #23002288 TA1 33134
yes my neighbors bed room window is that close to my garage, yes my neighbor is not a fan of motorcycles.
Here is a photo of doug and his 175 and of me int he background (#39)

holy smokes

Granted I have been under the weather all week but the response has been great to this blog so it stays
Working on the stone might only happen on the weekend so please bear with me.
Did I miss any Bridgestone web sites? look on the side bar
I will be adding to the mix a freshly rebuilt crank, a brand new set of barrels and pistons pin bearings, a new 200 gasket set, a set of heads used, and a complete 200 Bridgestone 200 in somewhat worse condition than mine. However, it has a painted tank rather than chromed, so it would look good repainted, and all the covers, etc, are there and it would give me spares for my bike, then eBay whatever is left over.
Oh yea and the SR Scrambler competition high expansion chambers.
Has anyone a good (real not catalog) photo of these on a bike
I have been thinking of a non stock color combo of a bright frame and everything else flat black or do I go whole hog and restore it to riding classic
Larz anderson was going to have a vintage Japanees lawn event but it was rained out this year WWW.MOT.ORG

I had a piece of 2" brass rod and went for broke and started banging
away (as suggested to me) on the piston
with a little heat from a torch a 2' breaker bar and a big old Harley
hammer I broke both free
the cylinder and piston had corroded together well enough that they
were starting to become one
so I end the weekend at section II step two in the clymer repair book
best way to remove the piston pin anyone?

getting my hands dirty

this will be a little long but hopefully good reading

Decided to pull the engine today
rolled the SS up on to the stand and dug in

when I picked up the bike a few weeks back I poured marvel mystery oil
in the spark plug holes to try and break it free, didn't work

Drained the tranny fluid, nice shape for 20+ year old oil

found one issue the upper left mounting bracket (engine to frame had
broken the weld
bottom came out fine and did the four up front

engine is now on My work bench

was going to call it a day but pulled the heads
right cylinder the chrome was flakey and on the piston in a grit

is there a trick to removing a stuck cylinder?

currently have the engine minus all covers on the Bench she sure is
pretty on the inside

the bike is a TA1 BS200 SS/MII is this a 1968 bike??
