Moto Giro 07

My Moto Giro round up
The Noisemaker (#2) was all tuned fresh oil and shined up a bit to boot and then the problems started, my tooth started to throb so off to the dentist to see what is wrong.
Great, I need a Root Canal, one of the filling from the Navy had decay under it, then he dropped the bomb shell he co do it Thursday but I might be on Vicodin for two plus days
Thanked him and Scheduled for the following Tuesday.
All started well, wife’s Rover was packed, Bike was loaded and I was on my way Friday morning. Armed with two tubes of Oral gel, some Oral gel Swabs and a throbbing tooth
I tooled along at about 75mph on my way to the bonnet and passed a truck pulling an older Beemer side hack (hmm), all Staties were present and accounted for, and no blue lights were seen following me.
I pulled in to the bonnet, found a spot and checked in, at that time I made my best purchase of the year from Cosmo Joe, a waterproof bike coat with pads for $30.00.
The best part was the Knox armor in the jacket cost more than what I paid for the Jacket
Did my thing for the afternoon and settled down with a few new friends for dinner the proud Beemer owners
My dinner guest just happened to be the Beemer that I passes on Rt 89 (who I had also been pestering for an 250 Duck basket case via email).
Saturday morning came early enough with the buzz of two strokes for a wake up call
Enjoyed a hearty breakfast and learned the fine skill of bib attachment.
As I pulled out I of the lot (I was rider #2) I caught up with Dave T (rider #1) 305 Honda Hawk along with Doug (#3) 305 Honda Scrambler and Joe (#4) on a sweet 250 Sprint
We rode as a group enjoying the ride in the mist until the downpour on a dirt road section the water flowed down with Mud and Silt in tow. Great riding by all, I got a little squirrelly on the slick stuff as did the others and rode accordingly until the first checkpoint. Note to self-pack a calculator next year. Yup we did leave early, partly because the ride was so great and the bond of the group was forming.
At the lunch stop I enjoyed a soft sandwich, warm coffee, and another application of Oral gel. Smart purchase #2 of the weekend, another pair of wool socks from the local ski shop, because when I checked my boots they were full of water.
Off I went on the second leg, thought I took a wrong turn and started to double back and saw a pack of riders pass by. I turned around when safe and was stuck behind a Crown Vic as I headed to the Lincoln Gap. Once the Crown Vic turned off I started to make up time to the vista. The ride down was purely on engine braking in 3rd, love that mountain.
Now I had caught up to my group who was stuck behind some slow moving traffic prior to the checkpoint. We decided to stop at the next gas station to fill up for the ride home; this is the point where the fun begins
Took my wallet out and pitched in to the gas fund and put my wallet in my “new Jacket” pocket. Note to self-zippers that zip up will come down
Yup my wallet, money and registration came out on the longest stretch of dirt road
Luckily a rider saw something fall and was kind enough to tell me when we returned to the Bonnet. At which point I had a melt down and went to trace my route.
I drove the whole stretch of the dirt road and there it was in the middle of the road a bit wet with tire tracks my wallet
This was the happiest ride back, because I was looking at ending my weekend and driving home
Dinner was great (and soft) won a single pull throttle, 3rd USCRA door prize that I have won and now I own 3 of them
Sundays ride was the best by far
I pushed my bike and it carried me thru the mountain twisties like I have never done, top gear throttle pinned, best ride of my life. Not sure if the road race was planned but followed the widest but I have ever seen in wool pants thru at a medium pace, then off we went loved the pass along the river this is the scenery that most never get to see and my hat is off to the organizers for this. Was it me or was that the same dog charging every one as last year? Pulling into the fair was a breeze lined right up and found out we just made it in the nick of time, 28mph average speed … hmm. So I went in search of another pulled pork sandwhich (last years was that good!) Watched the ATV pulls enjoyed the food and the sites. Off we went to head on back quick gas stop and the faster Hondas dropped Joe and I. At one moment I thought I was lost again but saw Rider #9 and remembered this was his back yard and followed him to Rt 100 and then took off following Joe to the Bonnet. Wow we made great time.
Sorry I did not stick around but I wanted to hit the NH tolls before the NASCAR race let out. This year I was home just before 7pm last year I was stuck in the traffic and made it home after 9:30pm.
Personal results of the weekend; one broken spoke, lost bolt on tool box and stress crack from that and a blown fork seal. Root Canal went great
I am already checking the mail daily for the Registration card for the spring giro
